On this website we hope to answer all your questions about how to advertise on a Fylde Coast bus stop.
Also called bus and Tram shelter advertising, we try to make getting your message - on a bus stop - very easy.
The main things to remember when doing any advertising are:
If you want to reach a local audience in a very visible way, then bus stop advertising may be the perfect route.
So, if your target audience will be travelling the roads or Tramway of Blackpool and the Fylde then this may be the ideal method for you.
All the available shelter sites are from Fleetwood in the North to Starr Gate in the South and cover all the Blackpool Council area. This means you can cover:
While there are 128,000 homes on the Fylde Coast and a population of over 200,000 this is boosted by more than double that in terms of visitors during the Summer Season so your message will be seen by potentially over half a million people.
Make it simple, easy to understand and mindful of your objective.
Think about where your advert will be. If it is on a street with passing cars how much of the message will they see? How long would someone need to study it to make sense of it?
Make sure you have booked the sites you want in plenty of time and checked availability (you will find all the contact details at the bottom of this page).
Bus shelter adverts and posters are often referred to as 6 sheets, this is due to the sizing referred to by printers. The name comes from the fact that it is 6 times larger than the standard posters before WW2.
The actual size is: 1200mm × 1800mm (47.2" × 70.9")
This is the size of the poster and not for supplying artwork as the safe copy area.
We are happy to help with any creative needs you have and will organise print if necessary.
There is a misconception that Bus shelter advertising is targeted at public transport users - this is untrue. While there are normally over 10 million bus journeys in Blackpool every year many of our sites are targeted at motorists and in some cases used for directional signage as shown here.
Yes, If the site is available you can have it immediately, we recommend getting in touch to see if we can help identify one for you that most matches your needs.
Normal contracts for this type of advertising is done per fortnight (mainly for national campaigns) at approximately £200 per fortnight.
However, the Council and we ourselves want to fill all the sites with good, adverts and where possible support local business.
Great news - we have introduced a special offer that allows you to buy the first month for any site available for just £229 plus VAT to include artwork, print and installation (so all costs included).
We then tailor future months to your needs but typically you would pay less than £230 per month per site.
All sites are subject to availability and VAT at the current rate.

The Blackpool Tramway dates to 1885 and is one of the oldest tramways in the world in 2015 it had a major development investment and a fleet of state-of-the-art trams commissioned. A further development of over £20 million is under construction to take the tramway back up to meet North Station and this is due for completion in 2022.
There were over 4.8 million passengers carried on the trams in 2019/20. This does not even include the numbers using the wonderful, Blackpool historic Heritage Tram service.
While the tramway has had millions of pounds invested the bus shelters have also been upgraded offering excellent opportunities for small local businesses to promote themselves for a very reasonable price and often with long term contracts available.

There are 680 potential sites available covering all the Blackpool Council ward areas, in addition there is a full tramway from Starr Gate (where the illuminations start) running 11 miles to Fleetwood Ferry.
While all of Blackpool is covered by the bus and tram shelters the area coverage is far greater as the tramway extends through Cleveleys and Fleetwood with the rails running adjacent to and in the case of Fleetwood right down the main street (Lord Street). In the centre of Cleveleys there is a large Tram station with 10 poster sites, this offers the most wonderful and effective way to reach the local audience.
No, Blackpool Council’s decision to take these ‘in house’ with our help, means that small local businesses can advertise near their premises at much lower prices as explained earlier, better still, long term agreements can be struck but with the option of changing the message regularly. Enquiries from nationals are welcome in fact we currently look after the McDonald’s 18 sites.

In 2015 Blackpool Council took back control of all of their estate of 680 bus and tram shelter sites throughout the town and along the newly developed tramway following £120 million investment.
Most of the UK’s bus shelters are owned by national firms and the revenue generated is largely lost to Councils.
Blackpool on the other hand took the decision to take these – in house. With fantastic relationships with the major Entertainment Organisations in the locality, who can blame them. The Theatres, Pleasure Beach and Piers have long been the major users of these prime site advertising vehicles.
However, these organisations did not take all the sites, leaving the then lady tasked with filling them Carol Bracegirdle, with somewhat a dilemma, how to fill them?
The solution was relatively simple, approach a local company she knew to have a good reputation and with whom she could work easily and most importantly with good National and Local business contacts. The company is the one you are reading about now. U-Save Limited a small marketing firm based on the Fylde who help small and medium sized businesses achieve response from their marketing.
So, there has never been a better time to advertise on bus shelters in Blackpool and the Fylde Coast.
Yes, The rates charged by the Council are less then half the cost of almost any other town in the UK.
Let us repeat that, the cost is less than half the amount you will pay in other towns – even though Blackpool is one of the most visited towns in the country, so pound for pound you get an amazing deal.
U-Save Bus Shelter Advertising is run by U-Save Limited - a marketing firm, based on the Fylde Coast since 2001, and with a reputation for helping customers get a return on their advertising spend. We were granted the contract after working with the Council and illustrating the value of the work we do in the local economy.
